A coming performance with Borderline Guerillas plus guests, Corey Mwamba , vibraphone and Alan Jenkins bass clarinet and sax.

The gig will have 3 sets. In the first, 2 names will be drawn out of a musical object and they will do a 20 minute set. The names will be put to one side and a further 3 names picked out. They will then do a 20 minute slot. Finally we all will do a set.

We are aiming to do this in the Glasshouse, previously the Vertigo cafe, in the Derby Dance Centre in May.

POLARITIES

Polarities integrates physical theatre, contemporary dance, and the strange musical landscape of Borderline Guerillas to produce a unique piece of theatre.

The logical world epitomised by Science and Mathematics weaves into and out of the world of spontaneity and the surreal and the two occasionally collide withsparks. The piece is performed by two professional dancers, Simone Gilliat and Sarah Duff and Borderline Guerillas, (Graham Foster on bass and electronics, Corey Mwamba on vibraphone and percussion, Rocco Francelli on accordion and electronics, Walt Shaw percussion and Unkle Peechi on decks.)

These musicians have plenty experience in physical theatre pieces and live art pieces, so don't expect a normal delineation of roles. Surprises abounded!

After the performance there was an opportunity for
interested people in the audience to discuss the piece with the performers.

The performance was made possible with the financial
assistance of Arts Council, England. Thanks too for support from Geoff Wright and Derby Jazz, Gopa Nath of Surtal Asian Arts, Pat Sears and John Port School. A special thanks to Amanda Roberts,Director and all the staff at Derby Dance Centre.
